How to prepare a Cake in your Airfryer

What’s the latest buzzing method of baking a cake in home kitchen?

In case you’re still wondering about the right answer, it’s the Airfryer cake method!

This new baking technique is now becoming a hot topic on several Internet groups, as people have started to explore new ways of using their favorite Airfryers.

Although its system is designed to reduce the oil usage in your daily deep frying recipes, it’s definitely not limited to these recipes. You can make Spring Rolls, Tikkis, Biryanis/Pulaos, Nachos, Wontons, Muffins and several other hundred delicacies in this cool kitchen gadget. So, the usage is pretty much based on how you come up with interesting Airfryer’s cooking ideas.

Today, I wanted to talk about the Airfryer’s cake preparation and baking tips, though I have already posted a simple Oreo cake recipe in previous post. Let’s begin now.

Things Needed for Airfryer Cake

Just like the regular preparation methods, you will need to keep everything ready. Here’s the list of basic ingredients and tools needed for this type of cake –

  • Cake Batter
  • Baking Mould
  • Oil
  • Wax Paper
  • Spatula

Cake Batter Since Airfryer uses hot air technology, you can prepare flavored sponge cakes, fruit cakes and Christmas special plum cakes in it. These cakes come out really well in this machine.

So, you will have to prepare the batter accordingly. Do use the electric hand blender to bring the smooth consistency to your batter. The manual hand blenders probably take a lot of time, and may not give the desired result in the end. It’s better to avoid them completely.

Baking Mould – Use any mould shape you like as long as it fits in the frying pan space.

Wax Paper – Other important thing that you will need is the wax paper.

This paper helps in removing the baked cake easily from the mould. It will also prevent the batter from sticking on the sides.

Oil – You shouldn’t use the wax paper at the bottom of your mould, as it may get burned due to excess heat. Hence, I’d recommend you to apply some oil for the greasing purpose.

If you don’t have this paper at home, grease the entire mould with oil. It should do the job for you.

Apart from this, the oil also gives nice and crisp textured layer to the bottom of your cake. You may replace vegetable oil with aromatic oil to enhance the cake’s aroma.

Spatula – Most of us know the importance of Spatula in cake recipes.

For those who don’t know, it is one of the most useful tools in cake’s preparation. The spatula helps in two ways i.e. mixing the batter & spreading the top level of your batter at even space.

Now, you might ask about the difference between regular spoon mixing and spatula mixing. It is quite simple. Spatula gives the extra plain surface that is required for cut & fold mixing method.

The spoon mixing doesn’t trap much air inside the batter, which results in less fluffy cake. Therefore, spatula is essential for the batter preparation.

Tips to bake your Cake in the Airfryer

Now that you have prepared the batter successfully, let’s have a look at the tips to make the best cake in your Airfryer.

1. For better results, you should preheat the Airfryer for 3-5 minutes. Then, place the mould filled with cake batter.

2. Set the temperature at 180 degree celsius and bake the cake for 10 minutes.

Note – You should increase or decrease the baking period as per the quantity of your cake.

3. Want to find out whether it’s ready to eat or not? Simply poke the knife’s sharp edge or satay stick inside the baked cake and take out. If it comes out clean, dance! You’re successful in using Airfryer for baking.

4. If you think the cake is not baked properly, just place the mould in the frying pan and air-fry it for another couple of minutes. Check the texture again. Hopefully, it should do the trick.

5. If it still fails, there’s something wrong in your batter’s recipe. Please check the cake recipe again and fix it for the next time.

    Can I cover the cake by Aluminium foil from top?

      Yes, you may try again with Aluminium foil. Don’t forget to poke some holes in it though.

    Pls help me coz I want to make walnut and carrot cake its first time I am trying to make . Specially the timing.

      Hi Philomena,

      You should bake this cake in preheated airfryer at 180°C for around 25 minutes or 160°C for 35 minutes. Please check the consistency when it’s done. If it’s not ready, you may airfry it for few more minutes.
